Bangor Savings Bank Waterfront Campus

Bangor, Maine

Bangor Savings Bank’s new corporate headquarters is comprised of three primary structures on a 4.8-acre downtown waterfront campus that was consolidated from private and public lots. CWS Architects led the design team to master plan the integrated development of this wholesale transformation of vacant waterfront lots into the new face of Bangor Savings Bank’s future for the next century. The campus includes three primary structures: First, a new 5-level 120,000 SF state-of-the-art Operations Center that is a hub of all activity on the campus; Second, a connected 5-story 457 space parking garage; and Third, the complete interior renovation of a 35,500 SF historic facility into new corporate offices. In addition to providing full architectural and interior design services for the new structures and interior design services for the renovated structure, CWS Architects also provided full FF&E services for the entire campus.

The campus was designed and certified to the Maine Advanced Building program sustainability standards and includes, extreme insulation, airtightness and natural light plus a full 1,400-panel array solar canopy over the entire parking garage that provides power to run the 80 geothermal wells that spread around the campus. As a result, the new operations will operate using a small fraction of the energy needed to operate a similar typical facility.
