The original Cony High School, constructed in 1926, was left unused after a new school was constructed in 2006. The existing building became vacant until 2013, when Housing Initiatives of New England renovated the flatiron building. The rehabilitation of Cony High School created 48 elderly housing apartments on the three existing floors of the former school.
The Senior Residence features numerous public spaces throughout its three floors, including a library with original closets and chalkboard taken from a former classroom; a health room where residents can be examined by a nurse; an activity and yoga room with large mirrors and restored existing chalkboards; a laundry room with its own lounge; and many original details restored through-out the building.
