As another successful year comes to a close, we reflect back on the wins we celebrated and worked hard to achieve together as a firm. CWS’s success stems from our passionate team of architects and interior designers. Our work is guided by shared core values and a common goal of exceeding client expectations. We are extremely proud to be a place where our employees not only create outstanding projects but build lasting connections, finding support for their personal and professional growth along the way.

Project Impact

We celebrated the completion and openings of five housing projects this year. These meaningful projects support our mission of cultivating lasting relationships to design enriched environments and communities. We are proud to be a leader in advocating for the needs of Maine’s affordable housing community and residents.

Celebrating Big Wins

Our team celebrated some big wins this year!

  • One of our housing projects with Community Housing of Maine’s (CHOM), Phoenix Flats, was recognized as one of the Top 7 Notable Projects for 2023 at the MEREDA 2024 Spring Conference.

  • Another one of our housing projects with Community Housing of Maine’s (CHOM) and Portland Housing Authority (PSA), Winter Landing, was recognized at the Grow Smart Maine Annual Summit. The 2024 Exemplary Smart Growth Project Award was given to the Mercy Hospital Campus Redevelopment project, which includes Equinox and Winter Landing affordable housing developments.

  • CWS attended the Best Places to Work in Maine event at the Augusta Civic Center in the fall. For the second year in a row we were awarded a Best Place to Work in Maine in the Small Employer category. A total of 133 small, medium, and large Maine companies were recognized. This achievement is a true testament to our employees and the wonderful culture they continue to create together.

Showing Community Support

We recognize that our responsibility to the public good exceeds our own needs and aspirations. Supporting the betterment of the world we live in is paramount to our business philosophy, and our employees actively support that sentiment through their volunteerism and community support.

CWS proudly sponsored and participated in the John Andrews Memorial 5K held at the Eastern Trail! Some members of our team came out to enjoy the sunshine and support the annual event. The John Andrews 5K is a signature fundraising event of the Eastern Trail Alliance, a nonprofit that builds, maintains, and promotes the Eastern Trail.

During the month of November, CWS hosted a donation drive for Animal Welfare Society in Kennebunk, ME. Our ‘Paws for a Cause: Building Hope Together” donation drive goal was to collect nutritious food, proper supplies, and of course some fun toys for all types of animals in residence at AWS. As you can see, we exceeded our goal by overflowing our donation bins!

J+J Flooring’s Helping Hands Campaign aims to brighten the lives of children and their families who are having to spend their holiday in a pediatric hospital. Over 75 New England Firms participated including CWS! The decorated and donated trees are put on display in the hospital for children and families to peruse and select their favorite to take with them and adorn their hospital rooms.
