A transformative waterfront campus that combines advanced sustainability systems, adaptive reuse, and integrated workplace design to create a high-performance corporate environment.

CWS led the design team in master planning and developing the transformational Bangor Savings Bank Founders Place Campus, converting vacant waterfront parcels into a vibrant, integrated corporate environment.

The campus is anchored by three primary components: a new five-level, 120,000-square-foot Operations Center serving as the central hub of activity; a connected five-story parking garage with 457 spaces; and the complete interior renovation of a 35,500-square-foot historic building into new corporate office space. In addition to providing full architectural and interior design services for the new construction, CWS also led interior design for the renovated facility and delivered comprehensive FF&E services across the entire campus.

Sustainability and long-term performance were fundamental to the project's vision. Designed and certified under the Maine Advanced Building Program standards, the campus incorporates extreme insulation, airtight construction, and extensive access to natural daylight to significantly reduce energy demand. A 1,400-panel solar canopy spanning the parking garage generates power for the campus’s 80 geothermal wells, creating a highly integrated renewable energy system.

Together, these systems allow the campus to operate using only a fraction of the energy required by a conventional facility of similar size, establishing a new benchmark for sustainable corporate development in the region.
