Animal rescue campus that blends homelike, rustic environments with functional care facilities to support animal welfare, adoption, and community engagement.
This unique multi-building campus consists of nine single-story, wood-framed structures, including a dog rescue and adoption center, an ice cream shop, four small cabins, two larger cabins with seven to eight dog rooms each, and a maintenance facility. Together, these buildings create a cohesive campus designed to support both operational needs and a welcoming visitor experience.
At the heart of the project is the new adoption center, which includes a reception and retail area, living room-style lobby, intake room, education room, staff lounge, private office, workroom, storage, and support spaces. A comprehensive furniture, fixtures, and equipment package was also developed, including office furnishings, movable tables and stackable chairs, café seating, lounge furniture, and retail display fixtures.
Through close collaboration, CWS assisted the Grammy Rose team in bringing to life their vision of creating warm, homelike environments for both people and animals. The design draws inspiration from rustic Maine cabins, resulting in a cohesive campus that feels informal, welcoming, and connected to its natural surroundings while supporting high-quality care for rescued dogs awaiting adoption.
