The new boathouse replaces the former Smith Boathouse and supports a decade of significant program growth within the collegiate rowing team. With a roster now exceeding eighty athletes and a fleet that has expanded in both number and boat size, the original facility could no longer meet the program’s needs.
The new facility provides the space, protection, and functionality required for a modern rowing program, allowing for efficient storage, preparation, and team operations. Program areas include dedicated equipment storage, a team room, administrative offices, and accessible restrooms, all organized to support daily training and competition activities.
Interior design elements thoughtfully reference the site’s history, incorporating trim milled from salvaged siding of the original Smith Boathouse. This detail preserves a tangible connection to the program’s legacy while supporting its continued growth and evolution.
